KCAB BEATIFICATION GRANT

Guidelines

This Beautification Grant is intended to provide an incentive in the form of a small grant to existing businesses, non-profit organizations or property owners in downtown Corinth to pursue beautification projects. The use of funds is flexible in nature and is intended to assist businesses in making specific improvements which will result in an enhancement of the neighborhood or property appearance.

Examples of eligible small grants include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • New Signage 

  • Upgrade or replacement of exterior fixtures (i.e. lighting, plumbing, etc.) 

  • Hardscape – landscaping architectural (i.e. paths, retaining walls, patio) 

  • Softscape – flowers, trees, shrubs, ground covers 

  • Window repair or replacement 

  • Tucking pointing 

  • Awning repair or replacement 

  • Exterior painting or repair, including murals 

  • Ornate/decorative fencing 

  • Façade repair or improvement 

  • Trash Enclosure
     

Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Equipment 

  • Product inventory 

  • Payroll

  • Other operational expenses  

  • Other items that could easily be moved or relocated to another property 
     

Program Details 

  • For the purposes of this grant program, downtown Corinth is defined as businesses or commercial space within or adjacent to Linden Street, Cass Street, Fulton Drive and Tate Street. 

  • Grants are based upon reimbursement of actual costs following project completion.

  • Grants may fund up to 50% of approved project costs, but not to exceed $1,500 in grant funding.  

  • Grants are limited to one (1) per business or property owner every three (3) years. 

  • Applicants must submit a letter of permission from property owner if they are not the owner.

  • All improvements shall meet the City of Corinth Land Development Code and be additionally approved by the Corinth Preservation Commission.  

  • Airbnbs, i.e. a residential property available for rent on a short term basis, are not eligible. 

  • Residential properties are excluded from this grant program. 

  • Membership of The Alliance is not a requirement to apply for this grant. 

  • Written agreement must be executed prior to starting any work related to requested funds.

  • Projects must be started within 30 days of approval and completed within 180 days.

  • Beautification grants are intended for commercial businesses/properties, individuals or organizations which are members in good standing of The Alliance. 

  • Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the allocated funds for a fiscal year have been depleted. 

  • Maximum total grant distribution per fiscal year is $5,000. Grant allocation is awarded based on grant eligibility and first-come first-serve basis. 
     

Application and Project Process 

  • Prospective applicants are required to submit a letter of intent to Keep Corinth-Alcorn Beautiful outlining in detail the proposed project. Upon acceptance of the letter of intent, the applicant will be invited to complete a grant application.  

  • The formal application process begins with submittal of an application form, associated drawings, project schedule, and project bid/proposal results. 

  • Applications will be evaluated and approved by Keep Corinth-Alcorn Beautiful. 

  • Applicant completes approved work. 

  • Applicant must provide receipts of eligible expenses for review. 

  • A reimbursement check is mail to applicant. 
     

*Determination of funding eligibility shall be at the sole discretion of Keep Corinth-Alcorn Beautiful, a Division of The Alliance.
